Lego cabinet

Forums:

Now that I have some serious tools, I'm trying to challenge myself to make less primitive things.  Still a ways to go, but I'm taking baby steps.  A lego cabinet is next.  It's not really complete yet, but it's pretty close, plus, it's functional already.  My plans:

I did not have wood of the appropriate size, so I started gluing planks together, and cutting them so that they could glue effectively.

I used spruce for the shelves (red), but the frame is pine. Spruce seems to want to deform quite easily.   Lesson learned.

After a few  years I cut this up and threw it in the fireplace.  The backing plywood was too thin, and the unit would buckle.  Built some much sturdier wall-attached shelves under my son's bunkbed to replace this.
